Lynn McReynolds
Lynn McReynolds
is a veteran communications executive with more
than 20 years experience. Before founding McReynolds Elek in 2002, she was
Senior Vice President of Communications for Discovery
Networks U.S., where she was responsible for
communications strategy development and implementation
for the unit of Discovery Communications that
includes Discovery Channel, TLC (The Learning
Channel), Animal Planet, Travel Channel, Discovery
Health Channel and Discovery’s
six digital networks.
Before joining Discovery
in 1996, she served as vice president of media
relations for the National Association of Broadcasters
(NAB) for six years, where she developed and implemented
media strategy and served as chief spokesperson
for the major trade association that represented
U.S. television stations, radio stations and broadcast
networks.
Before joining NAB, she was director
of communications at the Grocery Manufacturers
of America, which represents major U.S. food and
consumer product manufacturers, and director of
public affairs at the National Cable Television
Association, where she spent seven years developing
and implementing communications campaigns for the
nascent cable TV industry.
Before joining NCTA
in 1983, she served as deputy press secretary to
U.S. Senator Walter D. Huddleston, on whose staff
she spent six years. She has also been involved
in a variety of volunteer endeavors, including
co-chairing the NCTA Public Affairs Committee (2000-2001),
serving on the Boards of the historic London Town
Foundation and the Bay Ridge Trust, a land conservation
organization, and spearheading the development
and implementation of publicity plans for the 40th
Anniversary of the Peace Corps in Sept. 2001.
A
Kentucky native, Ms. McReynolds is a graduate of
Southern Methodist University and now resides in
Annapolis, MD.

Kimberly Elek
Kimberly Elek has a broad
range of communications and marketing experience,
with a specialty in launching new initiatives
and building startups. Before launching McReynolds Elek, she served
as senior director of marketing and communications
for USinternetworking (USi), a major application
service provider (ASP) located in Annapolis,
MD. In that position she was responsible for
branding and marketing programs for the company,
as well as corporate communications. She joined
the young company in 1999 in the newly created
position of director of corporate relations and
internal communications, where she was responsible
for building and executing strategic plans for
corporate, government and internal communications.
Before joining USi, she spent five years as director
of public affairs with the National Cable Television
Association (NCTA), where she implemented and promoted
a new national public affairs program designed
to profile the cable industry’s contributions
to education, its achievements in technology and
its commitment to improved customer service. During
her tenure at NCTA, Ms. Elek traveled the country
serving as the primary public affairs liaison to
member companies and state associations within
the cable and telecommunications industry.
Prior
to NCTA she spent five years working in Washington
DC’s legal community where she successfully
helped establish a new marketing division of a
legal services company and was subsequently hired
by a client into a newly created marketing, management
and communications position.
Ms. Elek has been
an active member of her community. She founded
and served as chairman of an award-winning 501(c)(3)
non-profit charity, where she was an active fundraiser
and also established and participated in several
community service programs.
A New Jersey native,
Ms. Elek graduated cum laude from Colgate University
and now resides in Annapolis, MD.
